Suzn's solos are edgy and improvisatory in a way that most smooth jazz of the 21st Century is not, and compositionally, she is much more ambitious. Suzn's To Be Human is not only a rare example of smooth jazz/crossover jazz coming from Europe, but is also one of those rare albums that could be described as "smooth jazz with a difference". Her latest album, To Be Human, is filled with groovy beats and simple harmonies, something that Smooth jazz has become known for, but there is also a healthy dose of improvised solos that are far more creative than much of what is being heard in Contemporary jazz today. Artists need to take chances to keep pushing music forward, and Ganser does an admirable job of trying new things and dealing with the subsequent risks that accompany these approaches. Zo is op de titeltrack een zeer inspirerende (en geautoriseerde) toespraak van Desmond Tutu te horen en heeft drumlegende Lenny White meegeschreven aan het nummer 'Girlfriend'. Je moet maar durven, maar het resultaat mag er zijn. Een plaat waar je van binnen warm van wordt.
